In 1864, the paddle steamer JURA sank in Lake Constance after a collision in dense fog. Through the exhibition at Seemuseum Kreuzlingen in Switzerland, this article explores nineteenth-century lake transportation, the ship's final voyage, underwater archaeological discoveries, and how navigation lights, storm warning systems and shared regulations transformed navigation on Lake Constance. More than a shipwreck, JURA became part of the history of safer navigation and everyday life on the lake.
