Hamburg Historic Fleet Series

Focusing on the historic vessels preserved by Stiftung Hamburg Maritim, this series explores steamships, tugboats, fireboats and other working vessels that have shaped the development of the Port of Hamburg, German maritime technology and maritime heritage.

Each vessel is presented through historical research and, whenever possible, fieldwork on board, documenting its construction, technical characteristics, service history, preservation and the experience of visiting the ship today.

Rather than introducing ships alone, the series examines how historic vessels preserve the memory, knowledge and maritime culture of one of Europe’s great port cities.
