This is the archive of sixty essays and sixty-two songs I created in Germany.
Together, they form the “Cultural Atlas of China’s High-Speed Rail Aesthetics” — a sensory tapestry spanning color, opera, intangible heritage, music, and fragrance.
Within this map, each essay and each composition is a coordinate of rhythm, a breath of civilization.
The speed of the high-speed trains is no longer only about velocity, but a vessel that carries culture, memory, and aesthetics.

在雪域高原之上，一縷麝香隨風而起，跨越千年歲月，講述著松贊干布與古老吐蕃的傳奇。本篇以詩意筆觸，追尋從高原傳至中原、乃至絲綢之路彼岸的麝香之路，並串聯起今日蜿蜒於蒼茫雪山間的青藏鐵路。歷史的足音、香氣的靈魂與現代鐵道交織成壯麗畫卷。讓我們隨著這條世界屋脊之路，踏上一次跨越時間與信仰的心靈旅程。On the snowbound plateau, a wisp of musk rises on the wind, crossing a thousand years to tell of Songtsen Gampo and the ancient kingdom of Tubo. In a lyrical register, this piece traces the “musk road” from the highlands to the Central Plains and beyond the far edge of the Silk Road, while threading in today’s Qinghai–Tibet Railway as it winds through austere, snow-clad peaks.
The footfalls of history, the soul of fragrance, and modern rails interweave into a magnificent scroll. Let us follow this road along the Roof of the World and set out on a journey of the spirit—one that crosses time and faith.
《絲路馥郁》帶你隨張騫踏上兩千年前的探險之路，一縷乳香穿越黃沙大漠，從古代西域傳至中原，成為絲綢之路上不滅的香氣見證。今日，蘭新高鐵疾馳而過，串聯起那些曾經駝鈴不絕的古道與邊關。香氣未散，夢想未遠，歷史與現代在鐵軌上交織成詩。讓我們一同穿越時空，聆聽乳香在絲路上的低語，尋回那段走過風雪與星辰的記憶。
一縷檀香，越過五萬里塵沙。本篇追尋「玄奘與檀香」的故事，從大唐長安出發，歷經戈壁、雪山、沙海，直抵古天竺。玄奘以五萬里行腳，成就文明之橋，檀香隨行，溫潤心靈。今日西蘭高鐵飛馳千里，串聯西安與蘭州，跨越千年，一縷香氣依然低語於大地之上。萬里香行，記錄的不只是路途，更是信仰與堅定。走進西蘭高鐵，亦如走進一場靜靜綻放的香之朝聖。A single wisp of sandalwood drifts across fifty thousand li of dust. This piece follows the story of “Xuanzang and sandalwood,” setting out from Tang Chang’an, crossing deserts, snow ranges, and seas of sand to ancient India. With fifty thousand li on foot, Xuanzang became a bridge of civilization; sandalwood journeyed with him, soothing the heart.
Today, the Xi’an–Lanzhou high-speed rail flies for a thousand miles, linking Xi’an and Lanzhou. Across the centuries, a thread of fragrance still whispers over the earth. This “ten-thousand-mile scent-journey” records not only a route, but faith and resolve. To step onto the Xi’an–Lanzhou line is to enter a quiet pilgrimage of incense.
泉州，不只是杭深鐵路上的一站，更是鄭和七下西洋的起點港。本文以龍涎香為主線，串起大明寶船與現代鐵軌，探索一縷來自深海的神祕香氣，如何從阿拉伯遠洋歸來，在泉州港悄然釋放，飄進今日泉州站。香氣無形，卻能穿越時空，留下歷史的體溫與文化的餘韻。鄭和未語，香已先行。Quanzhou is more than a stop on the Hangzhou–Shenzhen railway—it is the departure port of Zheng He’s seven voyages to the Western Seas. Threaded by ambergris, this essay links the great treasure ships of the Ming to modern rails, exploring how a mysterious scent from the deep ocean sailed back from Arabia, released itself quietly at Quanzhou Harbor, and drifted into today’s Quanzhou Station.
Invisible yet time-piercing, the fragrance preserves the body heat of history and the lingering overtones of culture. Before Zheng He could speak, the scent had already set forth.
沿着武杭高鐵，一縷蕲艾香氣穿越四百年時光，引領旅人走進李時珍的本草世界。這位明代醫聖，以蕲州艾草為筆下常客，寫下《本草綱目》的千草萬物。從鄉野田畦到高鐵車廂，艾香不僅是藥氣，更是中醫智慧與人間溫度的連結。這不只是旅程，更是一場關於信念與療癒的對話。Along the Wuhan–Hangzhou high-speed rail, a wisp of Qizhou mugwort rises across four centuries, guiding travelers into Li Shizhen’s world of materia medica. This great Ming physician made Qizhou mugwort a frequent presence in his writings, inscribing the myriad plants of creation into the Compendium of Materia Medica. From country fields to train carriages, the scent of moxa is not only medicinal air—it is a link between the wisdom of Chinese medicine and the warmth of ordinary life. This is more than a journey; it is a conversation about conviction and healing.
一縷來自海洋的螺甲香，穿越千年，在黃庭堅的硯台邊緩緩升起。這種曾腐敗的甲殼，歷經炮製與火煉，化為點燃詩魂的奇香。在贛南詩徑上，詩人焚香對坐，書寫人間清苦與風骨。而今搭乘滬昆高鐵，從杭州至南昌，不只是速度的穿越，更是一次詩與香的深層對話。殼雖薄，香可存，與黃庭堅同行，體味螺甲香中沉澱的千年詩意。A wisp of ocean-borne spiral-shell incense rises across a thousand years, unfurling beside Huang Tingjian’s inkstone. Once a putrefying carapace, through curing and fire it is transfigured into an aroma that kindles the poet’s soul. Along the poetic paths of southern Jiangxi, he sits before the censer, writing of earthly austerity and unwavering integrity.
Today, riding the Shanghai–Kunming high-speed railway from Hangzhou to Nanchang, we traverse not only distance but a deeper dialogue between poetry and scent. The shell is thin, yet the fragrance endures—walk with Huang Tingjian and taste the millennium of verse distilled in spiral-shell incense.

This chapter invites you into the plum-scented world of the Song-dynasty poet Li Qingzhao—from the “hidden fragrance drifting” on Hangzhou’s Solitary Hill to the elegant modern rail line that threads through Jiangnan—witnessing how a wisp of plum blossom became her life’s solace and a symbol of resilience.

沉香，來自傷痕；詩人，來自放逐。蘇東坡被貶儋州三年，在海南最遙遠的角落，點燃一爐沉香，也點亮一段文化的餘韻。他讚沉香「金堅而玉潤，鶴骨而龍筋」，如其人，如其詩。在那段孤絕歲月裡，他寫詩、焚香、教書、釀茶，以火中之香鍛煉出世外之心。今日乘海南環島高鐵南行，從銀灘到儋州，亦可踏上這條沉香之路，聞詩中煙火，思骨中柔韌，在速度與香氣之間，讀懂一位詩人與土地的深情對望。
穿越千年西安城，一縷瑞龍腦香緩緩升起，帶我們走進楊貴妃與唐玄宗的深宮愛戀。她在華清池畔焚香拈袖，香氣既冷且柔，如她一生的榮寵與孤寂。今日西成高鐵疾馳於古道之上，穿越的不是地理，而是歷史與記憶。這不只是一場視覺重現，更是一次感官與文化的深層對話。A wisp of auspicious borneol incense rises over millennia-old Xi’an, leading us into the sealed-palace romance of Yang Guifei and Emperor Xuanzong. By the Huaqing Pools she warms the censer and lifts her sleeve; the fragrance is cool yet tender—like the honor and loneliness that marked her life. Today the Xi’an–Chengdu high-speed rail races along the old road, traversing not geography but history and memory. This is more than a visual re-creation; it is a deep dialogue between the senses and culture.

She wears a silk robe embroidered with ornate patterns; delicate gold hairpins adorn her hair. In her hands she carries a finely wrought censer from which a wisp of fragrant smoke rises.
In the background, the Potala Palace stands high above as a quiet emblem of cultural union. A light mist veils the valley, and morning sun filters through the blossoms—an image where history, spirit, and fragrance are poetically interlaced. The scent is visualized as floating grains of light that drift in the air, binding past and present, sense and soul, China and Tibet into one.
